Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. Here's how we handle your information when you use our educational platform.

At Foamex, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, why we need it, and what we do with it. We're based in Canada, which means we follow Canadian privacy laws – specifically PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

We built this platform to help people learn about investment analysis. Along the way, we collect some information to make that experience better. But we're not in the business of selling your data or using it for anything beyond helping you learn.

What Information We Collect

When you use our platform, we gather a few different types of information. Some you give us directly – like when you sign up or contact us. Other bits we collect automatically as you navigate through the site.

Information You Provide

  • Your name and email address when you create an account
  • Payment information when you enroll in our programs (though we don't actually store credit card details – our payment processor handles that)
  • Any messages you send through our contact form
  • Responses to surveys or feedback forms, if you choose to fill them out
  • Progress tracking data as you move through learning modules

Information We Collect Automatically

Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how people use our platform. This includes things like which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and what browser you're using. It helps us figure out what's working and what needs improvement.

  • IP address and general location information
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages viewed and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or source that brought you to us
  • Learning module completion rates and quiz performance

How We Use Your Information

We're pretty straightforward about this. Everything we collect serves a purpose – usually making your learning experience better or keeping our platform running smoothly.

Information Type How We Use It
Account Information Create and manage your account, provide customer support, send important updates about the service
Payment Data Process enrollment fees, manage subscriptions, handle refunds if needed
Learning Progress Track your progress through courses, personalize your learning path, provide completion certificates
Usage Analytics Understand how people use the platform, identify technical issues, improve content and features
Communications Respond to your questions, send course updates, share relevant educational content

We won't sell your information to third parties. That's not our business model, and frankly, it never will be. Your data stays with us unless there's a legitimate reason to share it – which we'll explain in the next section.

When We Share Information

There are a few situations where we might share your information with others. These are limited, and we're always careful about who we work with.

Service Providers

We work with a handful of companies that help us run the platform. Payment processors handle transactions. Email services send course notifications. Hosting providers keep the website running. These companies only get the information they need to do their job, and they're bound by contract to protect your privacy.

Legal Requirements

Sometimes the law requires us to share information. If we receive a valid court order or subpoena, we'll comply. We might also share information if we believe it's necessary to prevent fraud, protect someone's safety, or defend our legal rights.

Business Transfers

If Foamex is acquired by another company or merges with one, your information would transfer as part of that transaction. You'd be notified beforehand, and the new owner would have to honor this privacy policy.

Your Rights Under Canadian Law

PIPEDA gives you specific rights when it comes to your personal information. We respect these rights and make it easy for you to exercise them.

Access Your Data

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We'll provide it within 30 days.

Correct Information

Found something that's wrong? Let us know, and we'll update it. You can also change most information directly in your account settings.

Delete Your Account

Want to leave? You can request deletion of your account and personal information. We'll remove everything except what we're legally required to keep.

Data Portability

Request a machine-readable copy of your data to transfer to another service. We'll provide it in a common format.

Withdraw Consent

If you've given us permission to use your information in specific ways, you can take that permission back at any time.

File a Complaint

If you believe we've mishandled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To exercise any of these rights, just send us an email. We'll verify your identity (to make sure we're not giving someone else access to your information) and then handle your request promptly.

How We Protect Your Information

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All information transmitted to and from our platform is encrypted using SSL/TLS technology. Our servers are hosted in secure facilities with restricted access. We regularly update our security protocols and monitor for potential vulnerabilities.

That said, no system is completely bulletproof. We do everything reasonable to protect your information, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If we ever experience a data breach that affects your information, we'll notify you promptly as required by Canadian law.

Password Security

Your account password is hashed and salted before storage. This means even we can't see your actual password. Choose a strong, unique password and don't share it with anyone. If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password immediately and let us know.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. Once you close your account, we'll delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except for data we're legally required to retain.

Some information needs to stick around longer for legitimate reasons. Financial records, for example, must be kept for seven years under Canadian tax law. Learning certificates and completion records might be retained to verify your credentials if you need them later. We'll always follow the principle of keeping data only as long as necessary.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies – those small text files stored on your device – to make the platform work properly and improve your experience. Some are essential (like the one that keeps you logged in), while others help us understand how people use the site.

Types of Cookies We Use

  • Essential cookies that make the platform function properly
  • Analytics cookies that show us which content is most helpful
  • Preference cookies that remember your settings and choices
  • Session cookies that keep you logged in as you move between pages

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Keep in mind that blocking certain cookies might affect how the platform works. Most browsers let you accept or reject cookies selectively, which gives you control over what you're comfortable with.

Third-Party Services

Our platform integrates with a few external services to function properly. Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which you should review if you want to understand how they handle information.

We use payment processors to handle transactions securely. Video hosting services deliver educational content. Email providers send course notifications. Analytics tools help us understand usage patterns. We carefully vet these partners, but we don't control their privacy practices.

When you click a link to leave our platform, our privacy policy no longer applies. Be careful out there, and read the privacy policies of any sites you visit.

Children's Privacy

Our platform is designed for adults interested in learning about investment analysis. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we'll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this policy occasionally as our platform evolves or laws change. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or through a notice on the platform. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically, especially before providing any new personal information. Continued use of our platform after changes means you accept the updated policy.

International Data Transfers

While Foamex operates in Canada, some of our service providers might store or process data in other countries. When this happens, your information is protected by contractual commitments that require the same level of protection as Canadian privacy law.

If you're accessing our platform from outside Canada, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in Canada, where our servers and main operations are located.
